KANA TAMURA is a Japanese citizen who is majoring in Theatre Design and Technology with an emphasis in Lighting Design at San Diego State University.  Her interest in lighting design has come from 6 years of the contemporary dance experience she enjoyed in middle and high school in Japan.  She came to the United States in 2015, looking for her career but always wanting to work for the entertainment industry.  She discovered the Theatre major at Grossmont College in San Diego, CA and instantly enrolled herself.  Since she used to be a performer herself, she understands how the performers feel on the stage and wants to make them look more beautiful.  That was the start of her career as a Lighting Designer.

She has experience being a Lighting Designer, an Assistant Lighting Designer, an Assistant Master Electrician, a Followspot Operator, a Programmer, a Board Operator, and an Electrician.  As a Designer, she likes researching abstract images for the show and spreading her idea towards the lighting approach. As an Electrician, she really enjoys physical work because she can feel very muscular and strong.

She is always excited to meet new people to expand her world!
